When was the last time you helped someone hug a horse?  At Shady Hollow Farm in Birdsboro, we provide therapeutic horseback riding lessons for individuals with special needs.  Shady Hollow Assisted Riding is a nonprofit organization, and we need your help.  Without volunteers our therapy lessons would not be possible!

Therapy Trained Volunteering

Who can help?

Anyone over the age of 14, must be mature, confident and comfortable around a 1000lb animal!

No prior horse knowledge is required. (training classes are provided)

Anyone with as little as one hour a month to donate

What do we need from you?

Side Walkers – friendly, horse loving people who walk next to the rider

Horse Leader – the leader guides the horse and rider during lessons

Groomers – Brush, comb, cuddle, saddle, bridle, and snuggle a   horse. Prepare horse for lessons.

Non-Therapy Trained Volunteering

Our non-therapy trained volunteers are individuals who want to help our program but are unable to assist in the therapy lessons directly.

Being a nonprofit organization means relying heavily on donations and fund raising events.  Throughout the year, Shady Hollow Assisted Riding participates in many fundraising activities.  We also host special fundraisers here on the Farm.  It’s at these events where we need lots of help.  By volunteering your time or services, you can make fundraising a success and get a person with special needs on a horse!
