Meet Doc! Featured Horse of the Month

Doc was born April 29, 1996 and is registered with the American Quarter Horse Association. His registered show name is Ima Showtime Dude. Doc has lived in three different states: born in New Jersey, lived in Delaware, and now resides with us in Pennsylvania. Doc has been living at Shady Hollow for about 18 years.

Doc is listed as a sorrel horse which means his coat is reddish in color, also known as a chestnut. He is 15 hands. What doesn’t Doc do? Doc is one of the horses truly at the heart of our program; he can do anything from trail rides to assisted lessons to jump courses (in his younger years, and on a good day now that he is aging). Doc is currently the second oldest horse. Many riders have learned to canter on him.

Doc enjoys homemade horse treats and a mint to freshen his breath. Doc, while he loves a good ear rub, is not a fan of things other than his halter/bridle at his face. He likes to make his feelings known by giving a good “stank face” to other horses as they pass, but it’s all for show. He’s as gentle as they come. While Doc does like people and paper, he doesn’t like people holding paper. He has adorable tiny ears and gray eyebrows that are more prominent as he ages.
