Meet Elmer! Featured Horse of the Month

Elmer is a Morgan and Quarter horse cross who was born around 2003. Since Elmer is a rescue, his birthday is our best guess! Elmer is a gelding who stands at 14.2 hands from hoof to withers. Elmer is used in all of our lesson programs, but he definitely loves jumping the best!

Elmer is the alpha in the gelding herd at the big barn despite being the smallest. His best friend and literal partner in crime is Marshall - together they have made great escapes into grass pastures and broken into feed rooms. He was taken to a show jumping clinic last December with Olympian Boyd Martin! He also loves to lick people when they’re not expecting it.

Vocabulary:

  • Gelding - Term for a male horse

  • Hands - How horses are measured; 1 hand is 4 inches.

  • Withers - Term for the top of a horse’s shoulders
